For Composers

The future and vitality of orchestral music depends, like any art form, on continual renewal and growth of ideas. For orchestra music those new ideas come mainly from composers.

Yet it is economically impossible for good orchestras to perform every worthy new work.

By contrast, it costs far less for the Fauxharmonic Orchestra to prepare a new work for full orchestra and to perform it many times and in many places.

One result of the Fauxharmonic’s recording new works has been that other conductors have decided to perform them on their concerts. Two years ago conductor Stephen Gunzenhauser heard the Fauxharmonic’s recording of “For the Fallen” by Andrew Lowe-Watson and decided to play it with the Lancaster Symphony, for example.

Testimonials

"Man, this is absolutely dynamite!

You have done a fantastic job of capturing all of the nuance of the piece – the variety of the percussion, the string divisi, the mutes – all of it is here. I can’t imagine how many hours of work went into this. I just want to congratulate you on your frighteningly accurate representation of the piece."
- David Heuser, Texas

"I was astonished the first time I heard a chamber work of mine performed by The Fauxharmonic. The professionalism was expected (considering the source) but the executional and stylistic nuances came as a wonderful surprise. My very first thought was that the director had to be an individual from an extensive performance background, which proved to be correct. This product/art will go far to support the exploration of modern serious music."
- Michael Staley, Texas

"The [Fauxharmonic] performance has all the musical expression and nuances I could ask for, resulting in a very accurate rendition of my composition. I’m taken by how well all the tone-colors are played (harmonics, phrasings and vibrato, spiccato, glissandi, et cetera), as well as the natural feel of accelerandos and ritenutos. I now have a killer performance of my quartet, that I can’t wait to show to everyone!”
- Emiel Stoepler, The Netherlands

"I'm especially grateful to Paul for his attention to detail: the finer points of dynamics and articulation that give life and authenticity to Fauxharmonic peformances. I have already had one band director express interest in performing my work as a result of our recording. I hope to collaborate with the Fauxharmonic again in the future."
- Larry Shackley, South Carolina

"The Fauxharmonic Orchestra is defining a new paradigm in the meaningful interpretation and presentation of ambitious, large-scale musical works."
- Tom Myron, Massachusetts
